Is Technology Messing With Your Brain???

Next time you take a walk, are in a train, at the airport, or anywhere, pay attention. Besides an old lady and an impatient customer, chances are everyone is hunched over some type of electronic device. The average American teenager has at-least 3 or 4 electronic gadgets. Technology makes everything easier. Using Google you can find LeBron James's stats in the game last night against the Chicago Bulls. With You tube you can watch PewDiePie, BajanCanadian, Skydoesminecraft, Vanoss gaming, or BestInSlot. With Wikipedia you can learn about the Civil War or Vampires.  You can use Facebook to contact friends that are on the other side of the world. Technology makes life easier and more efficient. But is it controlling your life? Is it messing your brain? Let's find out!!!

I'm not saying that everyone is absolutely obsesses over technology or is an obese hunchback afraid of daylight, but technology is consuming or time and attention. Technology may be efficient, but it comes with a price tag. Technology is messing with your body and brain by crippling your health, diminish your attention span, and screw up your brain.

Every hour you spend playing Minecraft or texting your friend could be spent playing basketball or soccer, or doing something active. Scientists believe that technology can contribute to obesity. A study from the University of South Carolina Hill (2012) showed that physical activity in the US is decreasing by the constant use of electronic devices. Because of the efficiency, nothing really requires much "effort." Researchers predict that by 2030, Americans will occupy an electronic device for 42 hours a week. But it doesn't stop there. Obesity can lead up to Type 2 Diabetes and Heart problems.
Research also showed that 73 million people in the US are obese. Scientists believe that above all reasons for chubbiness, low physical activity, Over use of technology, and fatty foods are the most accurate.

Are you one of those people who watches TV while listening to music, doing homework, and chatting with your friends on Facebook? If you are and your under 16 yrs of age, you are in danger!! Experts say that with multitasking, your brain frequently switches from each thing that your doing. This causes your brain to pick this up in everything you do. It will cause you to lose focus on everything you do. Experts say this is a very terrible thing for a young, growing brain because it causes you to lose focus on school. During your basketball or soccer game, one moment your thinking about stealing the ball, and the next moment you're thinking about that time when you ate won the spelling bee. While your taking a test you might be thinking about what the square root of 64 is and then after you're thinking about the time you ate 14 pizza slices. Even though it may not be that bad, it still has an affect on your brain.

The last reason why tooooooooo much technology is bad for your brain is because it contributes to memory loss. A technology overload can affect the brain's ability to store information. A recent study by the journal  Pediatrics  has shown that kids that play video games after they have studied vocab words, they did poorly on the test. With the constant technology intake, the brain has no chance to cool down, which is very important to the brain.

Now you see what technology can do to you. It cripples your health, lowers your attention span, and contributes to memory loss. Technology is in our everyday life, but it's a bad thing to have too much of it. An obsession is really bad for your health and can cause you major problems. Technology may be efficient, but now you know the evil side of it. BE CAREFUL.

Challenge

Next time you take a walk in a big city, or in a very busy place, record the number of people you see on technology, the number of people who are obese, and the amount of people who are not any of these. Post your results in the comment section.
